Sowing the Seeds of a Wild Sisterhood Movement
The term "Wild Woman" comes from Clarissa Pinkola Estes in her 1992 book "Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype" which has received an international following and a succession of hundreds if not thousands of Wild Woman, Wild Women tribes and sisterhoods. Our sister tribe is in England, and we are grateful to have received their blessing and inspiration.
For Wild Women Hawai'i we envision the word "Wild" as ancestrally rooted, innately connected, and powerfully feminine, but also as a protest against patriarchal narratives and how women have been portrayed, manipulated, and suppressed. Women are finally coming back into our power and breaking the chains of a patriarchal society that has failed us. We are making new narratives, or taking back our narratives. We are shifting the paradigm. And that too is absolutely Wild.
Each retreat may reflect a theme to symbolize a specific focus, however, the constant values for all Wild Women Hawai'i retreats remain the same:
-
Cultivate social wellness - a unique fusion of experiences and opportunities for women to become connected.
-
Sisterhood connection and emotional wellness - an integrated mind, body, and spirit bonding. A support network. Not a business network, but a genuine “I see you” empathetic kinship network where we are seen, heard, and heartfelt.
-
Wild and natural locations for environmental wellness as we rewild, connect with nature, and honor the Wild Woman within.
-
Freedom to be ourselves without judgment. Here, we are free to be our authentic selves as long as we are kind and accepting of one another.
We create a safe space where women feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether you’re a newcomer or returning, you will find genuine acceptance within our women's retreats and become an important part of the global sisterhood of wild women. We realize women's essential need for authentic connection is not limited to Hawai'i alone. Whether you're from Hawai'i or beyond, our doors are open to peaceful women who share our purpose and understand that our retreats are not designed for adventure or exploring the island. Instead, we settle into one amazing natural location and sink into ourselves for the entire event. Thank you for choosing our woman-owned, Hawaii-owned women's retreat!
Founder
Michelle Gallagher Escobar
Michelle is the founder and head facilitator of Wild Women Hawai’i LLC. As a long-time resident of Hilo, Michelle's purpose for Wild Women Hawai’i is to fulfill women’s need for authentic sisterhood connection and to return to our peaceful and powerful roots as women.

Wild Women Hawai'i was organized to unite women for mutual support, empowerment, and sisterhood in a non-judgmental safe space. Our purpose is to strengthen our bond as women, and for women to experience community and overall wellness with the agreement to show mutual respect and kindness for one another. Religious indoctrination is not welcome or intended. We generate a field of trust and truth in our circles, and we want each woman to feel safe in gifting her story.
